The maternal death rate is on the rise (especially for women of color) and studies reveal that birthworker support, a healthy patient, and attentive postpartum care can help reduce the risk of death, premature babies and complications related to pregnancy.
The prevelance of lifestyle disease among pregnant women is proportional to their internal and external stressors. Women who are able to get control of and improve their health before delivery improve their chances of having a full-term baby, and a safe birth with minimal medical intervention.
As a trained Lifestyle Doula™, you'll not only be able to help women prepare their bodies for pregnancy, and reduce physical and emotional stress by adjusting their lifestyle, but you'll also be able to provide crucial postpartum support once they return home with their newborn. Your training will be invaluable to mothers who may otherwise face life-threatening outcomes.
