DOES THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE BIRTH DOULA TRAINING?
No, our training does not cover birth. No, Lifestyle Doulas focus on the holistic well-being of mothers before, during, and after pregnancy, addressing lifestyle factors, mitigating risks, and supporting overall maternal health. While we don't provide traditional birth support, our training equips doulas with the tools to make a lasting impact on maternal and fetal outcomes through a comprehensive understanding of lifestyle choices and environmental factors.
WHAT DO POSTPARTUM DOULAS/NCS DO?
Postpartum doulas are there to be mom (and dad's) helping hands when they bring their newborn home from the hospital. They assist with feedings (whether mom is nursing or bottle feeding), baby care - including diapering, bathing and soothing, and most baby related tasks. Doulas also assist parents with education, moral support and in some cases, meal preparation & household tasks, while NCS (Newborn care specialists) receive special training to assist primarily with baby.
DO THEY HELP WITH SLEEP TRAINING?
Doulas can help families create and implement a routine geared to helping baby sleep through the night - once it's been cleared by the pediatrician; however, there is specialized training for sleep consultants.
DOES YOUR TRAINING PROMOTE A PLANT-BASED DIET?
As a doula, you will encounter women from different creeds, cultures, and backgrounds. Our philosophy encompasses Whole Person Care, so nutrition is only one facet of the training you will receive, however, we do promote a plant-based diet for healing. You will learn how to help women evaluate their current eating habits and make healthier choices overall.
IS TRAINING ONLINE, IN-PERSON OR BOTH?
We offer both a 100% virtual training with recorded, live session and a hybrid cohort. Our hybrid cohort happens every other month in Houston, TX. Participants attend 5 in-person, 5-hour sessions, and 2 live, virtual trainings. CPR/1st Aid training is administered on the final day. For out of town participants, a voucher for AHA training can be supplied.
WHEN ARE COACHING SESSIONS HELD?
Your one-on-one business building session will we scheduled for the week following the last class session. Weekly, live business building calls are held on Monday mornings 9am CST, and monthly Q & A sessions are typically held on Wednesday evenings. Replays are always available and sometimes trainers have unscheduled lives in the Doula Mentorship Academy FB group (recorded).
WHAT IF I DIDN'T LIKE THE TRAINING - IS IT REFUNDABLE?
You may request a refund for your training up-to the day of - no questions asked. Once the training begins, the course is non-refundable.
